Women's Health Research Scholars Program

Funding permitting, every year the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology accepts applications for its Women’s Health Research Scholar’s Program. The program is open to high school, college, and graduate students interested in women’s health.

For 4-6 weeks during the summer, scholars are matched with research clinicians/mentors and function as active members of the research team, getting hands-on experience on an assigned research project.  In addition to conducting research, students participate in regular meetings with their mentors, culminating in a formal presentation of their results at the end of the program. Scholars receive a stipend for their participation.

Applications will be accepted in May of each year. The program usually kicks off the first week of June.

Requirements:

  • Complete an application form.
  • Submit a current resume.
  • Submit a personal statement which includes goals and identifies research interests (no more than 1 page).
  • Must be available for 4-6 weeks beginning in June.

Selection Process

The selection will be contingent upon an interview with the Director of Research and Special Projects (JoNell Potter, Ph.D.) and the Department of OB/GYN Faculty Mentor.  For more details, or to apply for the program, contact:
